Goals and Objectives

What if you could double the positive effects of your SEL program by equipping parents to reinforce it from home? What if we told you the key to that is to have a social-emotional learning program specifically for parents?

When parents become socially and emotionally healthy, they are better equipped to raise children who are healthy in those same areas. Our goal at Empowered Parents Club is to provide parents with social and emotional learning so they can transfer it to their children. We empower parents to be their best, so students can do their best.

Our Approach

Evidence-Based

Our digital and in-person workshops and resources are
based on the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and
Emotional Learning (CASEL) framework. Each strategy is
evidence-based.

Comprehensive

Our resources cover the major components of social and emotional learning, including self awareness, self management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making, all as they relate to parenting.

Adaptable

We offer in-person workshops, virtual workshops, and access to our digital resource library.

A Critical Need

Stress is at an all-time high

Americans are reporting record levels of stress due to a variety of factors, and parents report being particularly stressed. We assert that the ability to manage emotions in everyday, high-stress situations involving our children is a transformative skill to acquire. We seek to build that skill in parents so they can utilize it, and transfer the skill to their children.

Impact on the school environment

Socially and emotionally healthy parents raise socially and emotionally healthy children. Children who are socially and emotionally healthy are less likely to get into trouble at school, leading to lower suspension and expulsion rates, and a more positive school climate. While SEL programs are being built in schools all over the country, nearly all of them neglect to provide parents with their own social and emotional learning. When parents reinforce the school's SEL program, healthier children show up to school.

Our Sessions

Self Awareness

Parents learn how to recognize their strengths and limitations by identifying core values, emotional defaults, strengths, and disconnects, and how those affect their parenting.

Self Management

Parents learn stress management techniques and build agency to accomplish parenting goals through a series of interactive exercises designed to help them move from identifying emotions to regulating those emotions in healthy ways.

Social Awareness

Parents learn to be intentional about showing compassion for their children, how historical and cultural experiences affect parenting, and how to validate their child's emotional state. Parents gain strategies for teaching children social awareness within their own cultural context.

Relationship Skills

Parents learn communication techniques to strengthen parent-child relationships, including reflective listening, reserving judgement, awareness of facial expressions, and more, all while having the opportunity to practice in small groups.

Responsible Decision-Making

Parents learn to evaluate the repercussions of various actions within a parenting context. This workshop touches on structured choices, family decision-making, and prioritizing safety. Parents learn about the long-term benefits of teaching children to make responsible decisions in an interactive and collaborative format.
